The Society for Promotion of Science & Technology in India (SPSTI) is a not-for-profit non-government organization, registered in the year 2009. The Society has been active in taking science and technology to people.
Since the year 2011, the Society has been holding Summer Schools in Science and Mathematics for selected students of Classes IX to XII at various schools located in in Haryana and Punjab. Sixty-two summer schools have been organized so far.
For teaching Physics, Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry and for managing the schools, the Society hires students of all India institutions and reputed universities/ colleges, such as IITs, IISERs, Central Universities, Panjab University, NITs, Punjab Engineering College, etc. While the participants in the summer schools benefit substantially, the mentors too learn a lot and come to appreciate the ground realities of our country and deprived sections of the society. In a way, it becomes their direct contribution to nation building.
This year Four summer schools, one each in Yamunanagar, Panchkula, Faridabad and Ballabgarh (all in Haryana) would be held from June 3 to June 24. The Summer School at Panchkula will be only for classes 8th, 9th and 10th, (excluding classes 11th and 12th). A short syllabus will be provided after selection of mentors. The mentors shall carry out attendance and record keeping, conduct tests and examinations, conduct opening and closing functions and submit a report at the end, for which they will be allowed one extra day at the end, effectively ending the summer school on the 25th of June.
