The Society for Promotion of Science & Technology in India (SPSTI) is a not-for-profit NGO engaged in popularization and promotion of science and developing scientific temper in the society, children and youth in particular. It is a unique organization of its type in this part of India. The SPSTI was set up by thirty-seven leading scientists, academicians and administrators and registered vide registration number 80/2009, with the District Registrar of Firms & Societies, Panchkula, under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 (now under the new Haryana Registration & Regulation of Societies Act, 2012 after repealing of the 1860 Act in Haryana). Three very distinguished scientists are its patrons. Several members of the Governing Council are of international eminence and distinguished professionals. Now there are 92 members. Since its inception, the SPSTI has taken several initiatives and conducted a large number of programmes and events on diverse themes and subjects. The SPSTI has also received concession under Sections 12A and 80G (5) of the Income Tax Act, 1961.
