Summer Schools in Science & Mathematics 2026
Background
Society for Promotion of Science & Technology in India has been organizing ‘Summer Schools in Science & Mathematics’ in Haryana and Punjab since 2011. The objective is to engage students of Classes IX to XII during summer vacations and make them explore the fascinating world of science and mathematics through hands-on experiments, interactive sessions, and exposure to scientific concepts beyond their textbooks. Students of reputed institutions/universities such as IITs, NITs, IISERs, Central Universities, Delhi University, Panjab University, etc. are hired as mentors to teach the students. This mentor-mentee program provides a unique opportunity for young learners to receive inspiration and guidance from budding scientists and engineers, while also allowing the mentors to develop their teaching, communication, and leadership skills. The initiative not only enhances scientific curiosity among school students but also fosters a spirit of inquiry, creativity, and confidence to pursue careers in science and technology.
