INVITATION

Society for Promotion of Science & Technology in India (SPSTI) invites you all to a special public lecture titled ‘From Ripples to Galaxies: Using Supercomputers to Unveil the Story of our Universe’.

This is a rare opportunity for students, teachers and others, to hear from one of the leading global experts in cosmic structure and galaxy formation. The session aims to spark scientific curiosity and inspire young minds to explore the wonders of our universe through the lens of supercomputing. There is no fee to attend the event.

We encourage schools to nominate interested students (preferably from Classes 9 to 12), along with a few escort teachers, to attend this enlightening session. As a token of our appreciation, all participating schools and accompanying teachers will be awarded Certificates of Appreciation by SPSTI for their valuable contribution to promoting science awareness.

Abstract

How did the Universe come to look the way it does? – A question asked since the dawn of civilization !

Today, by combining the power of supercomputers with exceptional data from top-of-the-line telescopes like the Hubble and the James Webb Space Telescopes, we stand at the cusp of being able to answer such questions; and, what we are discovering is nothing short of astounding!

Using cutting-edge computer-generated imagery and animation, this lecture will describe a comprehensive model of the Universe. The lecture will conclude with reflections on what the path forward looks like.
