Emeritus Scientist delivered Lecture on Periodic Table at Govt. Girls College, Chandigarh – IYPT2019

In continuation to the events under Celebration of 150 Years of Mendeleev’s Periodic Table (International Year of Periodic Table), SPSTI organized an Invited Lecture at Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh on “Importance of Periodic Table in Chemistry” on January 29, 2020.

The Lecture was delivered by Prof. K.K. Bhasin, CSIR Emeritus Scientist, Centre of Advanced Studies in Chemistry.

Prof. Bhasin started with brief discussion about IYPT followed by journey of discovery of elements (1650-2017) and discussion about eminent scientists and Nobel laureates who contributed to the development of Periodic Table. He touched very important and interesting corners of the Periodic Table while demonstrating eye-opening experiments on the spot. Prof Bhasin also presented many daily life examples of importance of periodic table in understanding the properties of common elements.

Prof. Alok Srivastava being present there couldn’t stop himself from interacting with the students and conveying some more interesting facts about.

More than 80 students of B.Sc. (Hons.) & Post- Graduation with Faculty members attended this knowledgeable and motivating lecture by the scientists.

Mr. M.L. Garg (Director, SPSTI) Er. Anuj Goel (Manager), Mr. Mahi Paul Sharma (Coordinator) along with Dr. Sangeeta Mehtani (HOD, Chemistry) were the organizing members of the Lecture.
