National Science Day

To commemorate the discovery of Sir C.V. Raman, National Science Day 2021 is celebrated every year on February 28. The District Education Office, Yamunanagar celebrated the same on March 05, 2021 by organizing a Science Fair at Government Senior Secondary School, Jagadhri Workshop, Yamunanagar in which 187 students and 62 teachers from all over the district participated.

The activities conducted included Science Quiz, Seminar, Project Display, an exhibition of coins, tickets, postcards, etc. and Science Exhibition by Mobile Science Laboratory – Circus of Science.

District Education Officer, Mrs. Namita Kaushik were the invited chief guest. Mr. Vishal Singhal, District Science Specialist, Yamunanagar organized the Fair. Shri Anoop Kothiyal, Principal (Retd.), Shri Sushil Gulati, Principal (Retd.) were the guest of honour.

Students of many government and private schools from Radaur, Sarswati Nagar, Chhachhrauli, Bilaspur and Jagadhri blocks participated in the activities.

Circus of Science

The Mobile Science Laboratory – Circus of Science, Vigyan Ka Jantar Mantar, an initiative of SPSTI, operating since 2016 and supported by National Council for Science & Technology Communication (NCSTC), Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, conducted its exhibition in the Science Fair which was enjoyed by all present.

Students interacting with science models

Students actively interacted with all the science equipments displayed in the lab. Many teachers were amazed to see many experiments for the first time in their career. Er. Anuj Goel, Manager, Mr. Mahi Paul Sharma, Coordinator, Aman and Sheeshpal, the project assistants explained all experiments available in the Lab.

Mirascope, a device used to create real images was well appreciated. Van De Graf Generator, experiments of electricity and magnetism, demonstration of forces and conservation of energy, were among many others that attracted all students and teachers.

Exhibition of Postal Stamps, Coins and Currencies

Shri Darshan Lal Baweja, Headmaster and a passionate science communicator exhibited his rare collection of coins, postcards, postal tickets, bonds and currency of various countries. He well explained the motive and science behind all these things and emphasized on developing atleast one hobby. “A student can learn science behind coins, how currency notes are printed, what a postal ticket explains and much more from these collections”, Mr. Baweja said.

Students and Schools who won Quiz and Seminar

In class 12th Science Quiz, Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Jagadhri Workshop secured First Position, Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Jathlana secured Second Position and Govt. Girls Sr. Sec. School, Jagadhri won the third position.

In Class 10th Science Quiz, Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Model Colony secured First Position, Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Laharpur secured Second Position and Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, Radaur secured Third Position.

In Seminar Competition, Khushi of Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Budhiya secured First Position, Divyansh of Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Jathlana secured Second Position and Gagandeep of Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Jagadhri Workshop secured Third Position.
