A three-days’ National Training Workshop on Visual Explanation of Mathematical Geometric Theorems began on September 21, 2021 at Kurukshetra under the aegis of Punjab State Council of Science and Technology, Government of Punjab and Society for Promotion of Science and Technology in India (SPSTI).
The workshop is catalyzed & supported by National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC), Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.
In this three-days’ workshop, the Master Resource Person, National Award winner, Mr. Gurmeet Singh will provide training with the help of his patented kits in more than 14 geometric rationals. He is accompanied by Shri Harjinder Kumar Gogna as Assistant Resource Person in this workshop.
Thirty-two mathematics teachers from twenty-two districts of Haryana are selected by the Education Department, Haryana to participate in this workshop.
On the occasion of the inauguration of the workshop, Shri Dharam Vir, IAS (Retd.) and former Chief Secretary of Haryana and Prof. Arun Kumar Grover, former Vice Chancellor of Panjab University were invited as Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour respectively.
The program was compered by Dr. Mandakini Thakur, Scientist of Punjab State Council.
Welcoming the chief guest and other dignitaries and participants in the program, Prof. Keya Dharamvir apprised everyone about the activities of the Society.
Emphasizing on mathematics, Dharam Vir said that mathematics can be inculcated in the students through hands on and visualization of activities and the objective of this workshop is also to make the mathematics teaching interesting and enjoyable. Dr. Kulbir Singh Bath, Joint Director, Punjab State Council said that the aim of the council is to make science, technology and mathematics popular among the students, teachers and the Society. District Education Officer, Shri Arun Ashri said that mathematics can be improved by writing and pronunciation of pure language and paid vote of thanks to all the dignitaries present on behalf of the Department of School Education.
As a special guest in the workshop, the Secretary General of the Society, Prof. Keya Dharamvir, Joint Secretary Ms. Rajni Bhalla, Science Communicator and Social Activist Mr. Makhan Lal Garg, State Training Coordinator Mr. Devendra Kumar Jangra, were present. The three days’ mathematics workshop is being organized by Er. Anuj Goel, Manager, Mahi Paul Sharma, Coordinator of the SPSTI along with District Mathematics Specialist, Shivcharan Gupta of the District Education Office.
