Abstract: Ban Plastics, and it will Save the environment. Really! This is the perception which most of us have, including Municipal Corporations, which have the responsibility of upkeep of the city. Unknowingly we associate everything bad and ugly with plastics or rather the quintessential plastic bag, our very own ‘carry bag’. Little realising that there is more to plastics than what meets the eye, this discussion endeavours to exchange views and counterviews about one of the most indispensable inventions of human era — the plastics.
About the Speaker: Dr. Gaurav Verma is a faculty in his Alma Mater, Panjab University. He is currently the Co-coordinator, Nanoscience and Nano-technology, Centre for Emerging Areas in Science and Technology. He is Ph.D. from IIT Delhi and has done post-doctoral research work in MIT, USA. His areas of interest include polymer nano-particle composites which are a current rage in this area.
